Program Description

This program is designed to produce quality researchers and practitioners well-equiped with the research skills. Our study program offers both essential fundamental and elective courses that emphasize technical mastery and research. Students are highly recommended to join and take part in research activities conducted by different specialized research laboratories that seek to solve the real-world problems with powerful knowledge of computer engineering.

Eligibility Type 1 (Plan A Type A1) 

1. This follows Chiang Mai University's announcement on admission of academic programs.

2. Holds an honor degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) or related field with strong mathematics foundation with approval from the program committees.

3. Has Thai nationality or other nationalities which are capable of studying in this program.

4. Other qualities are subjected to the program committees.

Academic Activitie

1. A Student has to organize seminar and present paper on the topic related to his/her thesis once every semester for at least three semesters and students have to attend the seminar in every semester that the course is offered.

2. A least 1 master’s thesis work or part master’s thesis work must be published or at least accepted to publish in a national journal listed in TCI Tier 1 database with the student as the first author, and at least 1 master’s thesis or a part of master’s thesis work must be presented in national conference accepted by the field of study.

3. A student has to report thesis progression to the Graduate School every semester, for approval by the Chairman of the Graduate Study Committee.

Program requirements

-  A student must pass a training course on research methodology to enhance his/her capability in conducting his/her research for at least 15 hours in his/her first semester.  Unsuccessful examinee must pass a re-examination within the following two regular semesters.

-  In the case that a student lacks sufficient academic knowledge concerning his/her research subject, the student will be required to enroll in course(s), without earning any credits, as recommended by his/her thesis advisor.

 

Eligibility Type 2 (Plan A Type A2) 

1. This follows Chiang Mai University's announcement on admission of academic programs.

2. Holds a degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering), Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) or related field with strong mathematics foundation with approval from the program committees or has an experience of working in computer engineering related field for more than 2 years.

3. Has Thai nationality or other nationalities which are capable of studying in this program.

4. Other qualities are subjected to the program committees.

A minimum of 24 Credits

1. Graduate Courses  a minimum of 24 credits

- Field of concentration courses a minimum of  24 credits

- Required course  9 credits

2. Advanced Undergraduate Courses : In case the student lacks some basic knowledge which is necessary for education, the student must enroll some advanced undergraduate course(s) under the recommendation of program administrative committee.
